SECOND BULLETIN

 

Purpose.

The purpose of the Conference is the presentation of scientific reports and exchange of the information about the new ideas and results on actual problems of nuclear physics and atomic energy.

 

Place and date.

The Conference will be held from May 29 till June 03, 2006 in Kyiv in the premise of the Institute of the Post-diploma Education (http://www.ipe.univ.kiev.ua) of Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko. Arrival and registration of the Conference participants will be held on May 29, 2006. The departure – on June 3, 2006.

 

Scientific program.

The Conference Program will consist of the invited talks and also scientific presentations, selected from submitted abstracts.

Proceedings.

Scientific reports and posters will be selected from submitted abstracts. Deadline for abstracts is April 15, 2006

The abstracts will be issued before the Conference.

Abstracts should be sent as attached files to the official Conference e-mail address NPAE-Kyiv2006@kinr.kiev.ua together with completed participant’s registration form. Abstracts are prepared as MS.doc file not more than 1 page in length. Instructions for preparation of abstracts and samples of dot-file and pdf-file, can be found on the Conference website. Please, note in your covering letter (file) what form of the report presentation you prefer – oral, or poster. Authors are also recommended to mention the conference topic, to present their reports.

Conference Proceedings will be published in the separate special issue of the INR scientific journal “Nuclear Physics and Atomic Energy” (http://www.kinr.kiev.ua/data/digest/digest.html). Reports and posters (as .DOC file) will be collected during the Conference and 1-2 weeks after it. Samples and instructions for preparation of the article can also be found on the Conference website.

The working languages of the Conference are English, Ukrainian and Russian. The organizers will provide the reports and discussions with the simultaneous translation.

 

General information.

General meeting of the Conference participants is planned for Tuesday evening of May 30. Conference banquet will be organized on Thursday evening on June 1.

During the Conference (at leisure hours) for all participants a number of sightseeing tours to the historical places of Kyiv will be organized.

 

Accommodation and practical information.

Conference participants can lodge in the hotel complex of the premise where the Conference sessions will be held in the single- and double rooms of European standards for the price of 15 – 20 Euros/night.

The participants can also get accommodation in the 3 stars hotel MIR (http://www.hotelmir.kiev.ua). Hotel is located in the city, close to the Conference site. The cost of accommodation per person (including breakfast) will be around 35 Euros/night in double room and 60 Euros/night in single room (please note that prices may be subject to currency fluctuations). A number of luxury suites will also be available at 100 - 150 Euros/night with assistance of the Ogranizing Committee.

Please contact the organizers for timely arrangements.

Transportation will be organized from the hotel “MIR” to the Conference site at the IPE. Meals will be served at the IPE.

 

Registration and Conference fee.

The Registration Form is attached to this bulletin. Please, refer to the Conference website too.

Completed registration form has to be sent to the Conference e-mail address or by fax. Deadline of the registration is May 10, 2006.

The registration fee for Conference participants is fixed in amount of 200 Euros and covers the Conference Proceedings, the welcome party, the Conference dinner, all coffee breaks and cultural events. The registration fee for accompanying persons is fixed in amount of 50 Euros and includes all the Conference social program activities and other cultural events. The fee can only be paid on arrival.

For the representatives from Ukraine and other NIS countries the conference fee is fixed in amount of 200 hryvnas for Conference participants and 50 hryvnas for each accompanied person.

Financial support.

A limited number of financial supports will be available for young scientists and students. The applicants should provide a short (one page) curriculum vita and a letter of recommendation from a senior scientist who supports their application. Such requests are sent to the Conference e-mail address till April 15, 2006. The Organizing Committee will confirm the selected financial support by e-mail.

 

Travel and visa.

International airportBorispolof Kyiv has good connections with the majority countries in the world. The airport is located in 30 – 45 min. travel by car to downtown and Conference site. Kyiv is well connected by railway transport with some European countries. Practical details will be given in the final bulletin.  

Visa formalities to Ukraine are waived for nationals of many countries (without official invitations). If you know that you need visa, and learn about application process, you can visit the site http://www.mfa.gov.ua/mfa/en/publication/content/1865.htm or apply to the local Embassy or Consulate of Ukraine.
